A handsome and historically important silver tetradrachm struck under Heliocles I, often regarded as the last independent ruler of the Greco-Bactrian Kingdom. His reign (c. 145–130 BC) represents the final chapter of Greek power in Central Asia, just before the region fell to nomadic invasions.
The obverse features a strong, lifelike portrait of the king, showcasing the artistry of Bactrian die engravers. On the reverse, Zeus stands confidently with thunderbolt and scepter, echoing the authority of Alexander the Great and the continuity of Greek tradition in the East.
Despite noted surface smoothing and scratches, the coin is sharply struck, with excellent detail preserved on both the portrait and the figure of Zeus. NGC’s grade of XF with a Strike rating of 4/5 highlights its strong definition.
